Case Study: Capturing the Spirit of Sustainable Coastal Living for PELLI
Photography & Creative Direction by Letitia Green
Some brands sell products. Others invite you into a way of life.
When I approach a commercial photoshoot, my focus is always on creating imagery that goes beyond documenting an item. I want to uncover the feeling behind the brand—the moments, emotions, and experiences that customers connect with when they choose a product.
This shoot for Australian sustainable lifestyle brand PELLI was built around that philosophy.
Finding the Story
PELLI's collection of reusable beach bags, coolers, picnic accessories and everyday essentials are designed with sustainability at their core. Rather than creating a traditional product catalogue, we wanted to tell a story about how these pieces become part of real moments spent outdoors.
The brief centred around coastal living, simplicity, and connection. We chose a rugged Western Australian beach location where limestone cliffs, soft sand, and expansive ocean views would provide a natural backdrop that reflected the brand's earthy colour palette and environmental values.
Every image was designed to feel effortless and authentic—as though we were observing moments unfolding naturally rather than directing a commercial campaign.
Working with Light and Mood
Light is often the most powerful storytelling tool available to a photographer.
For this campaign, I photographed primarily during golden hour, allowing the warm, low sunlight to create a sense of calm, nostalgia, and intimacy. The soft glow enhanced the natural textures of the products while adding warmth to skin tones and the surrounding landscape.
Creating Emotional Connection
Consumers are increasingly drawn to brands that feel genuine and values-driven.These subtle interactions help viewers imagine themselves within the story.
The result is imagery that communicates more than functionality. It speaks to freedom, adventure, sustainability, and connection—qualities that align closely with the PELLI brand.
Art Direction and Styling
Strong commercial photography begins long before the camera is picked up.
For projects like this, I work closely with brands and creative teams to develop a visual language that supports their message. This can include location scouting, mood boards, styling direction, casting, colour palette development, and shot planning.
For the PELLI campaign, styling was intentionally understated. Natural fibres, relaxed silhouettes, and coastal-inspired tones complemented the products without competing for attention. Every element within the frame was carefully considered to reinforce the brand's identity while maintaining an effortless appearance.

Collaboration Through Creativity
Whether I am leading the creative direction, providing photography, or collaborating as part of a wider creative team, my goal remains the same: to create imagery that resonates emotionally and helps brands communicate their unique story.
Looking Beyond Product Photography
Today's audiences connect with stories more than sales messages.
Through a combination of photography, creative direction, and visual storytelling, I help brands create imagery that builds trust, captures attention, and reflects the values behind their work.
Whether you're launching a new collection, refreshing your visual identity, or developing a campaign that connects emotionally with your audience, the right imagery can become one of your most powerful marketing tools.
If you're looking to create authentic, story-driven content for your brand or story, I'd love to hear about your next project.
